Fun Facts You Never Knew About Noah Baumbach

In celebration of our Growing Up Baumbach series, we thought we would give you some fun facts about Noah’s career. This might give you some good ideas for questions to ask during our Q&A with Noah himself on March 30th, when he will present his new film, While We’re Young.

 

1. Noah has 4 acting credits to his name.

One of which was as Phillip, Oseary’s Assistant, in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. He also co-wrote the script for Life Aquatic with his frequent collaborator and good friend, Wes Anderson.

 

2. What else has he collaborated on with Wes Anderson, you ask??

Well..The Fantastic Mr. Fox!  He co-wrote the screenplay along with Wes, about an urban-living fox who cannot resist returning to his wild ways as he raids the farms during the nights and disturbs the peace among the town’s farmers and and all his friends and family. Wes also served as Producer for Noah’s most successful film, The Squid and The Whale. Rumor has it that they’re going to team up once again very soon.

 

3.  He directed an episode of Saturday Night Live.

Noah has only turned to TV once (except for a pilot for HBO that never got picked up). Back in 2008, he challenged himself to a live TV broadcast, with Paul Rudd hosting and Beyonce performing on SNL. You might remember this classic skit from that show –


4. The top grossing film that Noah has ever been involved in is…..Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted!

Noah co-wrote the screenplay along with Director Eric Darnell. The animated feature, was released in 2012 and has gone on to gross $746 million worldwide. As for his directing credits, The Squid and The Whale is his top grossing film with a total gross to date of $11 Million. It was his 4th feature film and was released in 2005 to rave reviews by audience and critics alike.
