From thousands of students who receive free film arts educational programs, to audiences of film-lovers who experience something unique and moving stories at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center and festivals, we’ve heard so many stories from our community about the sheer joy that film brings into their lives.

IMPACTFUL FILMS EVERYDAY

  • 1,700 films + screenings presented, many including conversations with local and international filmmakers and film subjects
  • Christopher B. Smith Rafael Center kept its doors open seven days a week

PROMOTING CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING

  • Expanded the ¡Viva el cine! initiative year-round for the first time, presenting Spanish language and Latin American films during a new ¡Viva el cine! + Education program
  • Presented special programs to celebrate Black History Month, Pride Month, and Native History Month

INSPIRING YOUNG PEOPLE

  • 8,700+ students reached with the power of film to create empathy and understanding
  • 25 free programs produced by CAFILM Education for young participants across the Bay Area and the country

IMPACTING FILMMAKERS

  • 200+ filmmakers welcomed to Marin to share their stories with the CAFILM community.
  • $110,000 in prize and grant money awarded to diverse and emerging filmmakers
  • The Mind the Gap Summit promoted gender equity and the breadth of experience of women, nonbinary people, and other marginalized groups
