Released in the US as The Naked Night, Ingmar Bergman's early masterpiece is an expressionistic tale of a 19th century traveling circus and the ill-matched but co-dependent relationship between its owner (Ake Grönberg) and his young mistress (Harriet Andersson). Harriet Andersson will present and discuss this film, screened in a newly restored 35mm print from the Swedish Institute and Ingmar Bergman Foundation. In addition, she will present rare behind-the-scenes footage, filmed on the set, never before shown in the US. (Sweden 1953) 92 min., plus behind-the-scenes footage and discussion.
