Marie Nyreröd's outstanding 2006 documentary
Bergman
Island weaves an intimate and far-ranging portrait of
Ingmar Bergman
around three essential themes: Film, Theater and Fårö, the Baltic island
that became his permanent home and frequent shooting location. In one of his final
interviews, generously interspersed with film clips, Bergman examines his life
and career with candor. The documentary will be preceded by the hitherto unseen
Bris Soap Commercials, made by Bergman in 1951 during a hiatus in the Swedish
film industry. These commercials include his first scenes with young actress
Harriet
Andersson. Courtesy of Swedish Institute, Sveriges Television and Ingmar
Bergman Foundation.
Not available on DVD. Presented as part of the Ingmar
