Dalai Lama Renaissance
Ends Thursday, September 25
In 1999, at the edge of the Millennium, the Dalai Lama invited 40 innovative
Western thinkers and spiritual figures to Dharamsala, his residence in the
Indian Himalayas, to discuss the world's problems and how we can solve them.
What happened was surprising and unexpected for everyone attending. Narrated
by Harrison Ford, this recently completed documentary follows the weeklong
process of the Synthesis Conference, vividly capturing the participants' aspirations
and ambitions, as well as their frequently colliding egos. Even in the face
of potential cacophony, the Dalai Lama consistently expresses humor and compassion,
reminding all that the most important thing is to promote clearly basic human
values. Participants include Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith, physicists Fred
Alan Wolf and Amit Goswami, Thom
Hartmann, Jean Houston, Brother Wayne Teasdale, Elisabet Sahtouris, Michael
Toms and many others. Co-Producer: David Mueller.
Producer/Director: Khashyar Darvich. (US 2007) 84 min.
