Leave Her to Heaven
Academy Color Restorations
Introduced by Michael Pogorzelski
Friday, September 12, 7:30pm

This is a rare breed- a Technicolor
film noir- and it's a doozy,
starring
Gene Tierney as a beautiful socialite who marries writer Cornel Wilde
and ruthlessly eliminates anyone who might compete for his affections. This
delirious melodrama of
amour fou won an Oscar for
Leon
Shamroy's cinematography,
which, in the words of Time Out's Tom Milne, "makes each image a purring pleasure
on the eye."
With Vincent Price, Jeanne Crain. Writer:
Jo Swerling. Director: John M. Stahl. (US 1945) 110 min.
Michael Pogorzelski, Director of the Academy Film Archive, will introduce
this screening. Following the film, he will present a brief demonstration on
the restoration process. Leave Her to Heaven was restored by Twentieth
Century-Fox and the Academy Film Archive with funding from The Film Foundation.
