Winner of the Audience Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival, where it had its world premiere, this new documentary by Bay Area filmmakers Nancy Kelly and Kenji Yamamoto pays tribute to the individuals who saved the lands of the Point Reyes National Seashore and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area from development. Ordinary citizens did extraordinary things to create, right next to San Francisco, an 80 mile-long park that supports open space, recreation, agriculture and wildlife. It's a dramatic story that weaves themes of conservation, ecology, development, finance, politics and sustainability. Combining archival footage with interviews with many activists, the film is inspirational in its portrayal of people collaborating to make the world a better place. Narrator: Frances McDormand. Editor/Producer: Kenji Yamamoto. Writer/Producer/Director: Nancy Kelly. (US 2012) 72 min.
