Live Performance By Ukulele Virtuoso James Hill
Tuesday, February 23, 7:00
$15 (CFI members $12)
This one-night-only, screening and performance event features Tony Coleman's exuberant new documentary that examines the history of the ukulele, originally brought to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, and its contemporary comeback around the world. From California to Paris, from London to Tokyo, Mighty Uke travels the globe to discover why so many people of different nations, cultures, ages and musical tastes are turning to the ukulele to express themselves, connect with the past or connect with each other.
Following the screening, enjoy a live performance set by ukulele virtuoso James Hill, who has been acclaimed the "Wayne Gretzky of the ukulele" and "unquestionably Canada's finest ukulele player." Heard frequently on CBC and NPR, Hill will also join director Tony Coleman for a discussion with the audience. (Entire program approximately 2 hours.)
