Teacher Seminar/Workshops
In 2007 a group of dedicated teachers volunteered to head a committee of CFI
Education that would plan two teacher workshops per year, one on a specific
topic and one as an aid to teachers who wanted to utilize education screenings
during the Mill Valley Film Festival.
Highly praised workshops on How to Read Films and Teaching Animation In the
Classroom have been held combining individual exercises, Q&A’s with
filmmakers, teacher materials packets, group discussions and screenings of short
films, film clips and feature films. The Mill Valley Film Festival teacher previews
and workshops have increased teacher awareness and boosted attendance by schools
at the festival for MVFF’s free education screenings.
Past workshop packets are available free on request.
Coming in May will be the next workshop—a timely one-- focusing on resources
for teaching about the Middle East through films.
Teacher CE units coming soon.
