Internships
The California Film Institute is seeking interns to provide administrative and event assistance to various departments in the run up to, and during, the 32nd annual Mill Valley Film Festival, October 8-18, 2009. Scheduling is flexible, however we request that interns be available for a minimum of 1-2 days a week Monday through Friday (with the exception of the photography internship, the schedule for which is event-based). Ideally, candidates will devote more time during the Festival. We are currently seeking:
Publicity Intern
Under the supervision of the Marketing & Communications Manager, work directly with our outside public relations firm and media representatives to ensure that all requests for DVD/screener and press materials for films in the Mill Valley Film Festival are fulfilled in a timely manner.

Window Display Intern
Act as the project manager for the Mill Valley Film Festival Window Display Contest, which takes place in both downtown Mill Valley and San Rafael prior to and during the Festival. This will entail working with stores to coordinate the contest, arranging all required paperwork and judging, ensuring that photos are taken of every contestant’s window, being available to answer questions and provide MVFF materials, and making sure winners receive their prizes.

Marketing Distribution Intern
Take the lead in managing the Bay Area-wide distribution of the 2009 Mill Valley Film Festival schedules and posters. This involves working with the Volunteer Coordinator to set up a reliable team of volunteers to take stacks of MVFF schedules to a wide variety of venues, and to ensure that deliveries are made on time and quantities replenished when necessary.

Marketing and Sponsorship Interns
The Development Department manages numerous relationships with high level sponsors, individuals and in kind partners. Many of the activities include marketing, promotion, hospitality and event functions.
These Internships are an excellent opportunity for a hard-working and motivated individual to gain valuable experience assisting with key accounts at one of the foremost Film Festivals in the country. Individuals will get a hands-on understanding of nonprofit organizations.

Education Interns
CFI Education is an expanding program covering all of the Bay Area and with a combination of hands-on filmmaking and media literacy programs. These Internships offer direct experience with film education and workshop administration, video/film production, archiving, and film research. Opportunities to assist with special projects (Active Cinema, Environmental Youth Forum, and the Young Critics Jury program) may also be available.
Since this program is 12 months a year, special attention will be paid to intern applications for a longer period of time than just one semester.

Photography Interns
The California Film Institute is seeking interns to photograph various events and guests. These positions offer outstanding, hands-on experience along with the unique opportunity to build one’s portfolio with shots of renowned filmmakers and actors. Photos (with photo credit) may also be used on the CFI Web site and collateral, and may be published in local and national publications.
